Prem (Shashi Kapoor ) who belongs to a poor background , with only
his mother in family. One day Prem falls in love with a beautiful &
rich girl named Preeti (Sharmila Tagore), a medical student & only
daughter of Seth Hirachand (Om Prakash).Soon they develop a liking for each other. Prem meets Preeti's father to get his consent for their marriage. But Preeti 's father disagrees as Prem is from a poor background and according to him, with no future. So her dad destroys their relationship by lying to prem & creating misunderstanding between them. Prem goes away, even Preeti leaves with her father.
